These are magnificant. The brown sugar instead of white and the cream cheese in the frosting make all the difference.
Two tips-
1. I usually throw in a cup of freshly ground whole wheat.
2. After they are rolled out and put on the pan, I gently squish them which gives them the perfect round look.
Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes
1 ¼ Ounces Yeast (3 tsp.)
1 Cup warm milk
½ Cup sugar
1/3 Cup butter (melted)
1 tsp Salt
2 Eggs
4 Cups flour
Mix together.
Let rise for 30-45 minutes
Roll out into oblong and spread filling onto dough. Roll up like a jelly roll and cut 1” slices. (You can use dental floss to cut through the dough so it does not stick) Place on greased jelly roll pan. Cover and let rise till double (30-45 min) then bake as directed. Cover with icing.
Filling:
1 Cup brown sugar
2 ½ Tbsp cinnamon
1/3 Cup butter
Sprinkle on raisins if desired
Icing:
1 stick butter
1 ½ Cup powdered sugar
¼ Cup cream cheese
½ tsp vanilla
